Six people were stabbed around Edmonton on Thursday
A man has appeared in court charged with murder and five counts of attempted murder after a series of stabbing attacks in north London.

Ismail Dogan, 29, of Tottenham, north London, is accused of murdering Ernest Meads in Advent Way, Edmonton.

Six people were stabbed in just over an hour in attacks across Edmonton and Haringey on Thursday morning.

Mr Dogan has been remanded in custody until 4 January. He will next appear at the Old Bailey.

Emergency surgery

Mr Meads was a 58-year-old father-of-two, from Enfield, London. He worked as a masonry expert.

Police had said they were first called out at 0820 GMT on Thursday, to reports of a stabbing outside Edmonton Green train station.

They then attended four other incidents over the next hour.

A female victim had been transferred to the London Heart Hospital, three men underwent emergency surgery and one man admitted himself to hospital.

All five are in a stable condition.
