Carol singers' record bid fails
Singers
The singers fell well short of the existing record
About 300 people have failed in their attempt to get into the Guinness Book of Records by staging the world's largest Christmas carol concert.

The record bid, organised by evangelical group Church for the City, was staged in Victoria Park, Hackney, east London, on Saturday.

The current record was set last year in Canada by 1,175 singers.

Organisers, who had hoped for a higher turn out, also arranged a collection for an HIV/AIDS charity.
