Drugs stashed in vegetable cargo
More than 500,000 of drugs have been found hidden in a cargo of vegetables at a warehouse near Heathrow Airport.

Customs officers seized 10kg of cocaine after inspecting 159 pallets of vegetables and pineapples in Southall, west London, on Thursday.

Customs also discovered 10kg of herbal cannabis in the shipment, which had recently arrived from Accra in Ghana, destined for a London address.

The drugs are thought to have an estimated street value of 558,000.

Kerrie Spendiff, deputy customs chief at Heathrow Airport, said she was delighted to have "prevented a significant quantity of cocaine from reaching the streets of London".
