Wembley could host Champions League final

London mayor Ken Livingstone has vowed to do "everything in my power" to
bring the 2007 Uefa Champions League Final to the revamped Wembley Stadium.
He has given his support to the Football Association's bid to host
the Final at the north-west London stadium.
Mr Livingstone said: "Hosting the final would further boost London's position as a world-class sporting venue."
The Final, then the European Cup, was last played at Wembley in 1992.
For a bid to be successful, Uefa requires the backing of the local authorities with letters of support from local government.
"I fully support the FA's bid to host the UEFA Champions League Final at Wembley in 2007, and will do everything within my powers to make the bid a success," Mr Livingstone said.
"If the final is held at Wembley supporters and players will not only enjoy the best stadium in the world but also the delights of all that London has to offer.
"London has a track record of hosting successful international sporting events from Wimbledon to the Olympic Torch Relay.
