Older cats can be easier to care for
Battersea Dogs Home says it is packed with cats after increasing numbers have been brought in over the summer.

The home said its three centres are full to bursting with cats and kittens - at the latest count there were 188.

According to staff, a fifth of those cats are more than seven years old and they have been dubbed "golden oldies".

A spokeswoman for Battersea Dogs Home said older cats can be easier to care for and appealed for anyone who can provide homes to contact them.

She said: "In such beautiful weather it seems a shame that some of these natural sunbathers are restricted to a cattery pen, instead of having the run of a lovely sunny garden."

The spokeswoman added that older cats are more used to being part of a household and their bad habits should already have been dealt with.
