New £2bn scheme set for Docklands
Canary Wharf
The proposed development will be situated next to Canary Wharf
British Waterways is searching for a partner for a £2bn waterside development in London's Docklands.

The public corporation is set to develop five million square feet next to Canary Wharf, consisting of commercial and residential units.

Chief executive Robin Evans said the aim was "to create a world-class development, which significantly contributes to London as a world city."

The closing date for expressions of interest is 15 March.

The Wood Wharf masterplan has been already adopted by the local authority.

The site is situated near the proposed base for London's 2012 Olympics bid.

According to Mr Evans "it could be one of the finest and largest waterside regeneration sites in the UK".

British Waterways owns the freehold to Wood Wharf and expects to have an active and ongoing role in its development.
