Married security guard Adeel Akabar was shot dead
A man was murdered when a gang of up to 20 men stormed into a house with guns and baseball bats, according to police.

Married security guard Adeel Akabar, 24, was shot dead during the attack.

Several other people at the house in Leyton, east London, were injured after being set upon with the bats.

Police said a man in his 30s had been arrested in connection with the attack, which happened at 2230 BST on Tuesday.

'Large group'

Mr Akabar was taken to Whipps Cross Hospital in nearby Leytonstone, where he was pronounced dead in the early hours of Wednesday.

Treatment was also offered to the other people injured during the attack.

Police believe the suspects fled across a nearby Tesco petrol station.

A police spokesman said: "We are appealing for any motorists who may have been in the petrol station at that time and saw a large group of men.

"We do not know whether the men made off in vehicles at this stage but would also appeal for anyone who saw any cars making off at speed from the area to come forward. "

Mr Akabar, who lived in East Ham, is not thought to have had children.
