Lincolnshire village chapel turns art centre

A former Lincolnshire chapel will be transformed into an arts and heritage centre with a £433,000 Big Lottery grant aimed at reviving communities.

Caistor's former Methodist chapel will be refurbished to host art exhibitions, a local produce shop and a cafe.

Business expert Charlotte Hastings, who previously organised London Fashion Week, will move to the village to help lead the project.

Its progress will be filmed for a BBC documentary.

Roy Schofield, project leader, said: "This means a great deal to the village of Caistor."

Mick McGrath, of the Big Lottery Fund's Village SOS scheme, said: "The funding will empower the village to secure its future.

"We hope they will become a shining example that can inspire others and help to kick-start a rural revival across the UK."
