Man is rescued from beach ordeal

A man walking on the beach off the North East Lincolnshire coast had to be rescued by fire crews after becoming stuck in soft sand.

Humberside Fire and Rescue sent crews to dig the man out of the sand some distance off the front at Cleethorpes.

He had become trapped up to his knees, and firefighters used a ladder and specialist rescue sheet to extricate the man from the sand.

A fire and rescue spokesman said people should be aware of beach dangers.
