Man held over three-death crash

A man has been arrested in connection with a road crash in Lincolnshire which claimed the lives of three people, including a three-year-old girl.

Jodi Thornton, 24, and her daughter, Ella Harman, were passengers in a Mini which was in collision with a van and a Honda Civic on the B1191 on Tuesday.

John Anthony Knight, 61, from Sleaford, who was driving the van, also died.

A local man, 22, was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later bailed.

The accident happened between Martin and Kirkstead Bridge, near Woodhall Spa.

The mother and daughter, who died at the scene, were from Coningsby.

A police spokesman said a 30-year-old man who was travelling in the Mini remains in hospital, where his condition is said to be improving.

A 16-year-old boy from nearby Timberland, who was a passenger in the van, was not seriously hurt.

A man, 33, who was driving the Honda suffered minor injuries.

Lincolnshire Police has appealed for witnesses to come forward.
