Opinions wanted on flood defences

The Wash near Boston
The Wash is low-lying land along the coast in Lincolnshire and Norfolk

Flood defences along a section of coastline are being discussed as part of a consultation.

The aim is to create a long-term plan for flood defences on the Lincolnshire and Norfolk coast.

The Environment Agency and Boston Borough Council will run the consultation for three months.

Councillor Alison Austin said: "This is an important plan for everyone in the district as it is all about how our flood defences are managed."

She added: "We have to strike the right balance between agricultural and related needs and concern for the natural environment, both now and in the future."

The policies and options for the future management of erosion and flood defences will be considered as well as the effect of climate change on The Wash.

The consultation events are taking place at the Assembly Rooms, Boston, on Wednesday and Old Leake Community Centre on 11 November.
