Three people, including a child, have been killed and five others hurt in a collision involving four vehicles on a road in rural Lincolnshire.

Two cars and two vans were involved in the crash on the B1191, near Woodhall Spa, at about 1700 GMT on Tuesday.

A 61-year-old man from the Sleaford area, a 22-year-old woman from Coningsby and her three-year-old child died at the scene, police said.

One of the injured is in intensive care at Boston's Pilgrim Hospital.

The man who was killed is understood to have been driving one of the vans.

A 16-year-old boy from nearby Timberland who was a passenger in one of the vans was not seriously hurt.

The driver of a red Mini, a 22-year-old man from nearby Coningsby, is in hospital with head injuries.

A 30-year-old man, who was also a passenger in the Mini, suffered serious head and chest injuries. Lincolnshire Police said he was serving with the RAF locally.

Police have appealed for witnesses, particularly anyone who saw a red Mini with a union jack roof in the area before the crash.
