Driver killed after leaving car

Police have named a man who died when he was hit by a vehicle after leaving his own car on a road near Lincoln.

John Williamson, 49, from Bassingham Road in Aubourn, stopped his blue Ford Escort on the B1398, known as Middle Street, at Burton.

He was declared dead at the scene of the accident, at about 1715 GMT on Sunday.

Police said they were investigating what happened. An appeal has been made for witnesses.
