Police are continuing to search for a 14-year-old girl from Lincolnshire who is thought to have run away with a man she met on the internet.

Clare Haver, from Harrington Street in Bourne, has been missing since 25 July.

Police believe she is with Michael Ellis, 23, who she had been with on a week-long camping holiday in Skegness without her parents' knowing.

Officers think the pair have run away together. The schoolgirl's mother has appealed for her to make contact.

Lincolnshire Police said Clare went camping in Skegness with a friend of her own age.

Mr Ellis, who is believed to be Clare's boyfriend, joined her on holiday without her parents' knowledge.

Detectives have said Mr Ellis has "mental health issues" but they said there was no indication he was a "threat" to Clare.

However they described Clare as being at "high risk".

The couple, who met on the social networking site Bebo, were last seen leaving an address in Corby Glenn.

Appealing for her daughter to come home, Clare's mother Linda Squires, 41, said: "What does a 23-year-old man want with a 14-year-old girl? It's not normal.

No contact

"I have no idea why she went away with him. I know she was upset about her dad leaving."

Clare's brother, computer technician Shane Haver, 20, said: "She has never gone away like this before and she has not rung or texted."

Insp Guy Leach, from Lincolnshire Police, said: "We are aware Mr Ellis has mental health issues but there is no indication that he doesn't have his medication with him."

He said the couple may not be aware of the level of concern they had caused.

He added: "On the face of it, it would appear to be a young couple going off on a jaunt.

"Clare seems to be a normal teenager and she has gone with Ellis of her own free will."

Mr Ellis has been known to live at addresses in Lincoln and Grimsby.
