Man arrested over fatal collision

A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a 70-year-old woman died in a road crash.

A Peugeot, a BMW and a Vauxhall Astra were involved in the accident in West Marsh Road in Spalding, Lincolnshire, at about 2100 BST on Saturday.

The BMW and Astra both left the scene. A man was arrested at Lincoln County Hospital where he was seeking treatment for facial injuries.

The woman, who was a passenger in the Peugeot, died at the scene.

The driver of the Peugeot a local man, 49, and his wife, also 49, who was a passenger, suffered minor injuries.

The road was closed for several hours as the wreckage was cleared and reopened in the early hours.

Lincolnshire Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
