Man, 45, charged over house fire

A man has been charged after a Lincolnshire house fire in which a man was hurt as he jumped to safety.

Firefighters were called to the property on Caroline Street in Alford at about 0115 BST on Thursday.

A 72-year-old man suffered head injuries when he jumped from a window to escape the fire. He is in a stable condition in hospital.

Francis Clayton, 45, from Caroline Street, Alford, was charged with arson with intent to endanger life.

He is due to appear before magistrates in Skegness on Friday.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
