Man, 45, arrested over house fire

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a man had to jump to safety from a house fire in Lincolnshire.

Firefighters were called to the property on Caroline Street in Alford at about 0115 BST.

A 72-year-old man suffered head injuries when he jumped from a window to escape the fire. He is in a stable condition in hospital.

A 45-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

The scene has been cordoned off while with forensic teams and fire investigators examine the property.
