Gallery plan for seaside park pub

A £1m bid is being put forward to create a seaside museum and gallery in a former Skegness pub.

The plans have been put forward by East Lindsey District Council for the old Inn on the Park premises in Tower Gardens, after a public consultation.

The bid has been submitted to the Sea Change programme, a government funded initiative to renovate seaside resorts.

The council said it would take some time for a decision to be made and other funding was being looked at.

Councillor Dick Edginton, said: "If we can secure the funding this will be an exciting project for Skegness. We have put forward a strong funding bid but it'll be some time before we know the outcome.

"It is important that local people help to shape the future of their local area and I'm pleased so many people have told us what they would like to see this important building used for."

The Inn on the Park has stood empty since 2007.

In June, plans to redevelop the town's southern foreshore were put on hold because of the recession.
