Suspect named in stabbing case

Police say Paul Longdin should not be approached

Police have named a man they want to trace in connection with the stabbing of a 59-year-old woman in Lincolnshire.

Carol Couch was stabbed several times at the Brandy Wharf Farm Caravan Site in Waddingham on Monday night. She is in a stable condition in hospital.

Lincolnshire Police are treating the attack on Mrs Couch, of Keadby, near Scunthorpe, as attempted murder.

Officers said they wanted to speak to Paul Longdin, 26, of Northamptonshire, in connection with the attack.

'Random attack'

Mrs Couch's car was stolen during the incident and found abandoned in Corby, Northamptonshire.

Police have said this was a random attack.

Det Insp Suzanne Davies said: "This is very serious offence and my officers are working closely with Northamptonshire Police to arrest Mr Longdin.

"Mr Longdin is not believed to be in the Lincolnshire area but if he is seen, he should not be approached but the Police should be contacted immediately."

Det Insp Davies said that Mrs Couch was "sitting up in bed and is being supported by her family" in hospital.
