Repairs for frost damaged roads

A programme of repairs to roads in Lincoln damaged by cold weather earlier in the year has got under way.

A number of city streets, including the major commuter route of Broadgate, suffered in February's harsh weather, officials said.

The road surfaces have begun to crack and are being replaced. Other road repairs are also being carried out.

Drivers have been told by the city council that most of the work will be done at night to minimise disruption.

Broadgate southbound, which is used by nearly 36,000 vehicles every day, is closed at night until Friday.

Also included in the programme of work are Washingborough Road, Wragby Road and Burton Road.

Dave Underwood, senior highways officer, said: "If we were to do nothing, it would result in dangerous potholes forming, uneven driving surfaces and safety risks.

"We would therefore ask motorists to be patient and understanding as we work to create a safe environment for all."
