Public reassured after stabbing

People on an estate in Lincoln are being reassured that a knife attack was an isolated incident.

A 43-year-old man was injured in the neck as he walked his dog through a small park in Coleridge Gardens in the St Giles area on Monday morning.

Police said the level of violent crime on the estate is average for the county and a lot of work is being done in the area to tackle crime.

A 42-year-old man arrested over the incident has been released on bail.

The victim was treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Insp Shaun West said: "It is natural for a serious incident to have an impact on peoples' feelings of safety.

"However it is important that they consider the full picture.

"Statistically, the level of crime for the Glebe ward is average and this should offer some reassurance to the community but more importantly they should know that we are working in the area with them and for them."
