North Lincolnshire's first-ever bus lane is to be created in Scunthorpe in an attempt to cut passenger delays.
The planned lane will extend for about 400m (1,312ft) along Oswald Lane.
Work on the £30,000 project is expected to start in the spring, after the end of a consultation period with businesses and residents.
North Lincolnshire Council said buses kept getting caught in heavy traffic during peak hours and it had worked on the plans with local bus providers.
A council spokesman said: "This will be the first bus lane in North Lincolnshire.
"And it's been brought about following talks with local bus operators, whose buses get delayed on the main route exiting Scunthorpe town centre in the afternoons.
"These hold-ups have a knock-on effect to the rest of the route."
The bus lane will be in operation from 1530 to 1830 GMT from Monday to Saturday.
The council is also putting a new zebra crossing on the road, near the junction with Cliff Gardens.
