MP's support for troubled theatre

The MP for Lincoln has met theatre bosses and campaign leaders in an attempt to keep the city's Theatre Royal open.

Gillian Merron discussed the venue's future with its director, Chris Moreno, and actress Sue Hodge from "Allo Allo".

Two weeks ago the city council, which owns the listed building, announced it would no longer provide a yearly grant of nearly £180,000.

Ms Merron told the BBC she hoped it would be the first of many meetings.

The theatre is due to close next March and shows are expected to continue until then.
