Sheep fair stopped by heavy rain

One of Lincolnshire's oldest annual events has been cancelled because of heavy rain.

The Corby Glen Sheep Fair, which was first held in the village near Grantham in 1238, was also cancelled because of rain in 2001.

Organiser Steve Honeywood said it was disappointing but necessary because of water-logged ground.

"The weather has beaten us. We had heavy rain in the night so it is not practical (to run the fair)," he said.

The event was also meant to include a clay pigeon shoot, dog show and market stalls.
