Man charged after girl attacked

A 19-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a 15-year-old girl was injured in Lincolnshire.

The girl, from Grimsby, was taken to Scunthorpe Hospital in the early hours of Sunday with serious burns to her face and upper body.

Lincolnshire Police said the girl had been involved in an altercation near Brandy Wharf in Waddingham.

Jake Alexander Johnson of Colin Road, Grimsby, was arrested and later charged with attempted murder.

Mr Johnson was remanded in custody until the trial at Lincoln Crown Court which has been adjourned until September.

The 15-year-old girl has been transferred to Newcastle General Hospital for treatment and is in a critical condition.
