Residents shape plan for Skegness

Skegness
Questionnaires will be sent out over the next few weeks

Questionnaires have been sent to people living in a Lincolnshire coastal resort to get their views on how they would like to see it developed.

About 21,000 households in Skegness will be asked what they want to see in the town centre, particularly on the southern foreshore.

Residents will start to receive the questionnaires from Monday.

East Lindsey District Council said the results of the Skegness Voice survey will influence future redevelopment.

Community needs

Any site-specific proposals that come forward will then be subject to further detailed public consultation.

Gary Sargeant, business manager for regeneration at East Lindsey District Council, said: "The council has no preconceived notions or aspirations in terms of what should be developed in Skegness.

"Instead, it is absolutely essential that we gather the views of local residents and users of the town in terms of what they would like to see developed for the future.

"Only then can we look to bring forward or support specific development opportunities that will improve the town and clearly address the needs of our local communities."

It is thought the new development could be up and running by 2012.
