A 40-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with a hammer attack at a Lincolnshire pub.
The incident took place at the Square Peg in Grand Parade, Skegness, on Wednesday night.
Timothy Redhead, from Fairfax Rise, Sheffield, was charged with assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm and having an offensive weapon.
The 36-year-old victim suffered injuries to his head and left eye and is in a stable condition in hospital.
Redhead appeared before Skegness Magistrates' Court on Friday.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Lincoln Crown Court on 20 June.
Police are appealing for witnesses to an earlier incident that could be linked to the assault.
There was an altercation involving up to four people outside the Barlife pub in Grand Parade on Wednesday between 2115 and 2140 BST, a police spokesperson said.
