Police identify collision victim

A pedestrian who died after being hit by a car on a Lincolnshire road has been identified by police.

A motorist reported hitting a pedestrian at Whip Chicken Road in Crowland on Tuesday night. Police later found a man's body in a nearby ditch.

The victim has been named as Karl Malton, 32, from Crowland.

An inquest into his death is due to open on Thursday. The 58-year-old driver was unhurt. Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

His death brought the county's death toll to 15 so far this year.

A total of 28 people were killed on the county's roads during the same period last year.

There were a total of 79 fatalities for the year in 2007.
