City's weekly bin service returns

Weekly rubbish collection has returned to Lincoln for the summer after complaints from residents.

The black bins, used for non-recyclable waste, will be collected each week by the city council following concerns over hygiene and unpleasant odour.

Ian Taylor, environment promotions manager for the council, said people will soon get used to the new system.

The authority will continue to collect recyclable material in its brown wheelie bins each fortnight.

Resident Laura Frankman said she welcomed the change as she currently has to put waste in black bags outside her house after filling the black bin.

She said: "With me having three children at home with all the waste and nappies... weekly is far better for me."

The weekly collections will run until 31 October.
