Swan dinner allegation rejected

Claims a man tried to steal and eat a swan have been dismissed by police.

A member of the public reported a man had been trying to capture the swan in Brayford Pool in Lincoln and had said he wanted to eat it.

But it is now believed that the man was from a wild bird sanctuary and was attempting to capture the injured bird so it could be treated.

The police confirmed they received a report of the incident but ended the investigation after making enquiries.
