Red Arrows 'will stay in county'

The Red Arrows may move to another base in the county

Plans to move the Red Arrows from Lincolnshire may be averted, according to the RAF.

There had been fears that, as part of a review of armed services, the world famous aerobatic team would be moved out of the county.

But the head of the RAF, Air Chief Marshall Sir Glenn Torpy told the BBC that is not the case.

However, he admitted there was still uncertainty as to whether they would be staying at Scampton.

He said: "Scampton has been a very good home for them but what we're trying to do across the whole air force is to try and consolidate our bases on to a fewer number of better bases.

"The review isn't quite complete yet but I can say that they'll certainly be staying in Lincolnshire."
