City castle ready to host Tattoo
Military Tattoo
Supporters say the event would put Lincoln on the festival map
A major new military-themed celebration for Lincoln has moved closer to becoming a reality.

An expert from the Edinburgh Military Tattoo has visited the city to advise the council on how to stage a similar event in Lincoln Castle.

The authority said it had received almost 90% support for its plans.

It is hoped a tattoo would bring in millions of pounds to the economy and strengthen the city's links with the armed forces.

The Leader of the Council, Eddie Strengiel, said they had been gathering advice from those with experience.

"The thing with Colonel Hamilton coming down from the Edinburgh Tattoo was to make sure it was a viable place to put it in the castle.

"He had a good look around and surveyed the area and he said that it was very feasible to do it."
