County gets £23m for new housing
Plans for affordable housing in Lincolnshire have been given a £23m boost with a government grant.

The money will be spent on building 655 new, affordable homes across the county between 2008 and 2011.

A spokesperson from government agency the Housing Corporation said greener, better designed and larger family homes would be built.

Housing Minister Caroline Flint said more homes were needed for first-time buyers in the regions.

Duncan Michael, Housing Corporation board member for the East Midlands, said: "This investment will help to build and support thriving local communities where people will want to live and work.

"I am particularly pleased that as well as creating more homes, we are ensuring they have higher green and design standards than ever and that there is funding for more larger homes and for rural areas as well as city centre homes."
