Council advises green Christmas
Residents in one Lincolnshire district have been urged to recycle as much festive waste as possible.

South Kesteven District Council has told householders it will collect extra recyclable waste if they manage to fill their silver wheelie bins.

The extra materials should be placed beside the bins in a recyclable box or bag on collection day.

Materials which can be placed in the bins include paper, plastic, glass, cans and tins.

Dawn Temple, from the council, said: "This is the first year that we can collect recyclable waste and it will make a huge difference to reducing the amount of rubbish that previously went to landfill.

"We all need to get the recycling habit but there's more we can all do to minimise the total amount of rubbish we generate.

"Please think about what you are buying. A lot of people buy far more than they need and end up throwing it away."
