Market counts cost of bad weather
Christmas market
The council said there is no threat to the market
Bad weather has affected visitor numbers to Lincoln's Christmas market, organisers have admitted.

Stallholders and visitors had to brave heavy rain, low temperatures and blustery winds all weekend.

Early indications are that compared with last year park-and-ride numbers were down, but managers said coach numbers were good.

Final numbers will not be available for some weeks but the city council said the market's future was secure.

Tourism Services Manager Rob Bradley said: "I was going round the stalls with the rain dripping down the back of my collar.

"But from the council's point of view we appreciate how important the market is for Lincoln in terms of the economy and the image."
