Post office protesters to unite
Protesters hoping to save dozens of Lincolnshire post offices from closure have said they will join forces to strengthen their campaign.

Forty five branches have been earmarked to be shut or downgraded and separate demonstrations have already been held.

A protest meeting in Louth was attended by representatives from a number of different groups.

The closures are part of attempts to stem the financial losses of post offices throughout the UK.

Earlier this month one group in Rippingale walked three miles to Morton to emphasise the distance to the nearest alternative branch.

John Thornes, spokesman for the Langworth campaign, said closures could affect the heart of many towns and villages.

"The implications are for the community. What our post office does and what other post offices do is provide a community feel and atmosphere and we are going to lose some of that community identity."
