Wind turbine farm is 'beautiful'
A Lincolnshire farm has been given an award for its beauty despite having eight wind turbines on its grounds.

Vine House Farm at Deeping St Nicholas near Spalding was highly commended in a national competition to find Britain's most beautiful farm.

The awards, run by Bayer CropScience and Farm Life magazine, aim to find sites that enhance the environment and show social responsibility.

Farmer Nicholas Watts, said more people are now coming to accept the turbines.

Worthwhile development

Mr Watts said: "There are a few people against them (wind turbines) but from our experience, now there are a lot more people for them than there are against."

He said he was wondering whether to go ahead with the wind farm when people objected at the planning stages but is now convinced the development was worthwhile.

He added: "If you think they're beautiful then they're beautiful but if you think they are ugly then they are ugly but the judges were not bothered by them.

"I wanted to produce some renewable energy, so that's why we've got them, money was not the major cause in my taking them on."

Campaigners have vowed to fight proposals for an eight turbine wind farm at Laughton near Gainsborough.
