Station car park charges to rise
Increases to car parking charges along the East Coast Main Line come into force on Monday.

GNER has decided to almost double daily charges at Newark, Notts and Grantham, Lincs with the annual charge rising from just over 500 to nearly 1,000.

Some commuters are angry, but GNER says the prices are competitive compared to city centre car parks and cheaper than regional airport car parks.

Altogether 10 stations will be affected by the changes.

At Grantham, the daily parking charge will change from 5 a day to the new daily price of 9.

At Newark North Gate, the daily rate will change from 4.50 currently to the new price of 8.50.

Charges will now be frozen to January 2008 and then maintained in line with inflation subject to competitor activity.
