Recycling bin service rolled out
A new waste collection system is finally rolling out in East Lindsey district in Lincolnshire.

Residents will get three new wheelie bins for green waste, recyclables and other rubbish over the next few months.

Homes in the Woodhall Spa area will be the first to try the bins, which are already used in most districts.

A council spokesman said the aim is to double the recycling rate in the district - which currently stands at 23% - within the next few years.

Councillor Dick Edgington said: "We feel people will see the positive benefits of this major investment by the council."

He said anyone who has problems moving the new wheelie bins can use a special "assisted collection" service.

"Most councils already have recycling bins - so we have been able to share the experience from other councils."

Paul Fowler, head of environmental services, said: "We will be lenient at the beginning with people who put the wrong waste in the wrong bin - but it is important that people follow the instructions."
