The site will remain open until a replacement is found
Residents of a Lincolnshire town are celebrating after a firm postponed plans to close a recycling centre.

Kenwick household waste recycling centre in Louth will stay open until the end of the year while an alternative site is found.

Site operator Waste Recycling Group said it would keep running the site until a new facility opens.

The county council has looked at several sites but is favouring one on the Fairfield Industrial Estate.

A spokesperson from Lincolnshire County Council, said: "We have a good relationship with the Waste Recycling Group and they have agreed to keep running the site until we are up and running with our own facility.

"At the moment, that is until the end of the year but should something happen, I'm sure we can come to an agreement."

There are some planning issues surrounding the Fairfield Industrial Estate site but the county council is confident that plans will go ahead.
