Man jailed for jewellery thefts
A homeless man who stole thousands of pounds worth of jewellery from shops across Lincolnshire has been jailed for 15 months.

Lincoln Crown Court heard how James Evans, 30, asked to look at rings in shops in Horncastle, Gainsborough and Grantham before running off with them.

The court was told that Evans was desperate for cash to fund his gambling habit and addiction to alcohol.

He stole four rings worth 8,000 before he was arrested by police.

He first targeted Clarkes Jewellers in Horncastle in February, when he claimed he wanted a ring for his girlfriend, before running off with it.

Evans admitted theft charges.
