Car parks net 'best in UK' award
Car parks in a Lincs district have been revealed as the safest in the UK.

East Lindsey District Council has been awarded 41 Park Mark Safer Parking certificates, the largest number for any local authority in the UK.

Certificates are issued based on measures to deter criminal activity and anti-social behaviour.

David Hill, of the council, said: "Residents, visitors and businesses can rest assured vehicles left in these car parks are in a safe environment."

'Real partnership'

The portfolio holder for community safety added: "It is very pleasing that there is recognition for all the hard work and thought that has gone into the improvements to this service."

Mike Whitfield, regional representative of the British Parking Association, said: "All over the UK more and more people are waking up to the fact that drivers and passengers alike are seeking safe, non-threatening environments in which to park their vehicles.

"This is a real partnership scheme that brings great benefit to all.

"East Lindsey District Council should be congratulated for achieving the highest number of certificates in the country."
