Man arrested over 'racist chant'

Police investigating allegations of racist chanting at a League Two football match in Rochdale at the weekend have arrested a man.

Boston United goalkeeper Nathan Abbey complained of chanting during the game on Saturday.

A 28-year-old man from Newbold in Rochdale, who has not been named, was arrested by Greater Manchester Police on Wednesday.

He was released on bail pending further inquiries.

Referee Phil Prosser said after the match that he would include the allegations in his match report to the Football Association.
