Luke Walmsley: stabbed at school
|
A teenager accused of stabbing to death a schoolboy outside a classroom showed no emotion when confronted over the attack, Nottingham Crown Court heard.
A witness told the court the defendant "just looked normal" after the attack on 14-year-old Luke Walmsley.
The witness, a fellow pupil, said Luke did nothing to provoke the assault at Birkbeck Secondary School in Lincolnshire on 4 November 2003.
The 16-year-old defendant has denied the murder charge.
'Unprovoked attack'
According to the boy, who cannot be identified, Luke "looked scared" when he came out of a lesson and saw the defendant.
He said: "He saw (the defendant) and just put his head down. He looked a bit worried.
"Luke didn't intimidate him or anything. He didn't say anything to him.
"He didn't glare at him or anything to make (the defendant) do it so I don't know why he did it."
The witness said the defendant attacked Luke and he heard the knife puncture the skin before seeing the blade as he pulled it out.
"I saw the knife coming out of his chest. Some blood squirted just in front of me.
'Not worried'
The defendant was then confronted by a teacher and persuaded by another pupil to hand over the knife, the court heard.
He added: "(The defendant) didn't seem that bothered. He just looked normal. He didn't look scared or worried."
Another witness said he was chatting to Luke when the attack took place.
He told the court via video link: "(The defendant) got a knife out of his sleeve and stabbed him.
The witness said he saw Luke collapse and ran over to help him.
"He went pale. There was blood all over his hand, blood all over the floor."
The trial continues.
