Two people killed in glider crash

The glider pilot and his passenger died in the crash
A man and woman have been killed when their glider crashed into a field in Lincolnshire.

Michael Fairburn, a pilot from Louth, and Christine Rider, 63, from Sandilands, near Mablethorpe, died in the accident just after 1210 BST on Wednesday.

The crash happened near the village of Maltby le Marsh.

The air accident investigation branch has been called in by the emergency services to investigate the cause of the crash near Mablethorpe.

The glider crashed into an oilseed rape field near Strubby Airfield, which is home to the Lincolnshire Gliding Club.

A club spokesman said members were "deeply shocked" by the accident, which happened during a routine flight in good flying conditions.
