A new road built to stop drivers having to make a dangerous crossing of the A1 is due to open next week.
The road will link the villages of Foston and Long Bennington in south Lincolnshire.
Drivers had complained that the trip across the A1 between the two villages was dangerous.
The road will open to traffic on Thursday, 2 September. After that the Highways Agency will close a number of gaps on the A1 on safety grounds.
The two villages are on the same side of the A1 but the route between, before the new road, has meant drivers have had to cross the A1.
From Monday, 6 September, eight gaps including Foston crossroads will be closed off.
Temporary off-peak lane closures on both the northbound and southbound carriageways will occur between that date and Friday, 22 October for the A1 works to be completed.
Two full overnight closures of the A1 will also be required. The dates of these will be confirmed nearer the time.
