A Lincolnshire teacher who admitted having sex with a 15-year-old pupil has been jailed for a year.
Lincoln Crown Court heard Russell Pryor, 40, from Ancaster near Grantham,
had unprotected sex with the girl in January despite arrangements to keep them apart.
Police were informed after the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told her friends.
Pryor admitted a charge of abusing a position of trust.
Lincoln Crown Court heard the teenager had sent him letters in which she described her feelings for him, and he told his head teacher about the letters.
Jailing Pryor for a year and banning him from working with children, Judge Michael Heath said most teachers manage to deal with school crushes in a professional manner.
In a statement about the case, Lincolnshire County Council said Russ Pryor was a teacher well respected by both colleagues and pupils.
It praised the school for what it called its swift and decisive action and said such incidents were rare.
