Staff and patients at north Lincolnshire hospitals are to take part in a pilot scheme to increase awareness of the importance of clean hands.
The scheme aims to promote the importance of clean hands
It will involve one ward at Scunthorpe General and one at Grimsby's Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, along with the Trust's Infection Control Teams.
The aim of the campaign is to develop a blueprint for hospitals across the country.
David Preston, from Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust, said: "It is really exciting news that we have been selected as one of six sites, out of 61 Trust who applied, to take part in this nationwide project.
He said all staff who come in to contact with patients, be it health care assistants, nurses, doctors or consultants, should adopt good hand hygiene.
"Extensive good practice already takes place on our wards and we want, by taking part in this project, to share this."
