A man charged with murdering his neighbour after an alleged row over a garden hedge has died after being found hanged in a prison cell.
Robert Edward Dickenson, aged 52, died at Lincoln County Hospital at around 1945 BST on Monday.
He had been found with a ligature around his neck in his cell in Lincoln jail on Friday.
Mr Dickenson had appeared before Lincoln City magistrates on 16 June, accused of killing 66-year-old George Wilson.
Mr Wilson was found with bullet wounds at his home in Webster Close, Lincoln, on 13 June.
He died shortly after being taken to Lincoln County Hospital.
Mr Dickenson was discovered by police later that day with injuries and was taken to hospital where he was kept under police guard.
He was released from hospital on Sunday and taken to a police station where he was questioned by officers.
A Prison Service spokesman confirmed Mr Dickenson's death and said an
internal investigation is under way.
An inquest would be held in due course.
