Two sex attacks on men at a Leicestershire university campus have been linked by police.

The men were targeted on Loughborough University's campus on 13 and 25 March while a third man suffered an injured hand in an attack on 26 March.

Officers have released an e-fit of the suspect who is thought to have carried out all three attacks.

The man was black or of mixed race, of stocky or heavy build with short dark hair and was wearing a dark hooded top.

Police have increased patrols in the area and asked students to take extra care.

Det Insp Chris Hewgill, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are taking these reports very seriously, and doing everything we can to bring the offender to justice.

"We would appeal for anyone with information about these assaults, or who may recognise the description or the e-fit image, to contact us.

Professor Shirley Pearce, Loughborough University's Vice Chancellor, said: "The safety of our staff and students is paramount. We are working closely with the police to ensure that every measure possible is being taken to protect the campus community.

"Following these incidents the University Security team has increased its patrols of the campus, both on foot and in marked vehicles.

"There is an extensive network of CCTV cameras in use across the University and the Students' Union night bus, which was established several years ago to provide transport home from the Union, is still in operation."
